About Brien Lee Video Production

Brien Lee has been a writer, producer, director, teacher and student of all things audio-visual virtually all his life. He has specialized in business video production since the 1970’s.

Look at those ears.

He began his love of media as a child in New York City with a 12″ Philco b&w television, a cobbled together 78 rpm record player, a one transistor am radio that only picked up one station if held near a water pipe, and advanced his knowledge with cheap tape recorders, a couple of slide projectors, and his father’s abandoned Garrard turntable in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

All of which to say is that he watched television, read books, listened to the radio, played with tape recorders, listened to music and generally absorbed everything around him until he was ready to explode, which he did.

In college, he created slide shows, films, and audio plays, worked as a DJ, co-edited his yearbook, produced a 33 1/3 rpm record for distribution with the yearbook, and met his business partner, an extraordinary photographer named Ric Sorgel.

Together they formed a “Multi-image” slide show company called Sorgel-Lee (also SLI Multimedia, Sorgel-Lee-Riordan, Sorgel-Lee Multimedia, and a few other things), and they made their mark in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and beyond.

Years later, and a couple of companies later, Brien had produced mountains of media for business theater, corporate communications, broadcast, meetings and the web in video, multi-screen, film, multi-image slide shows, and interactive media.

Through all of these experiences, with the help of talented co-workers, suppliers and clients, Brien produced many award-winning efforts on behalf of clients and organizations.

During the years, a reputation was developed for being a creative director and writer, no matter what the subject matter; and through all of these efforts Brien developed and followed a strict set of creative rules, which of course, were meant to be broken- occasionally.

Brien and his associates continue to produce award winning videos for clients, including recent “Cindy”, “Communicator”, “Silver Screen” (US International Festival) and “Telly” awards in 2014 for two ground breaking time-lapse “stories” produced for Walgreens.

In addition to ongoing production, his current efforts are directed toward sharing these rules and insights through seminars, writings, presentations and web media to help enhance the audio-visual discourse and ensure that creativity and vision remain in corporate and personal communications, crowd sourcing be damned.
